Pandora Adds Ads
While listening to my Beatles station today on Pandora, a short commercial for "Lie To Me," a new FOX show premiering tomorrow, popped up in between songs.
This was the first time I had seen this kind of advertising on Pandora. It was only about 10 seconds long, clean, and didn't really annoy me at all. I think this format works and it has been suggested that it would work with Twitter. In between every 15 Tweets, Twitter could insert small clean ads that relate to what your profile is about or the keywords within your Tweets. What do you think?

Big Brother and Facebook
I used to think that everyone on facebook was being bombarded with ads for Arrested Development t-shirts and American Apparel. Not so. It seems that facebook monitors not only which ads you click on, but also your actual profile info to target ads to you. Information about the countries in which you access facebook also sticks; after living in France for 8 months I still get ads intended for French citizens applying for US visas.
My friend clicked on a link for meeting "cute, single girls", and now he gets ads for singles sites every time he logs in. So there's at least one downside of targeted ads, they may remind you of doing something embarrassing you'd rather forget :)

Sell Your Twitter Soul

There is a new way for Twitter users to make money off of their accounts: Twittad. Twittad allows users to essentially "rent out" the background of their Twitter page for a fee.
Here is the breakdown of how it works for users and advertisers.
I remain skeptical on whether services like Twittad will gain popularity. The idea reminds me of the cars I see with advertisements all over them. An easy way to make money, but how many people want to sell their appearance for advertising? Not many cars on the road and probably not too many Twitter users.

Olympic Commercial Roundup: Gold Medallist Number 2
Too bad it's for such an awful airline, because this commercial is sweet. Maybe they could re-direct some of their resources towards customer service?

Get paid to tweet

Twitter users now have a platform that pays them to post links. That platform is Adjix, which is a url shortener, similar to Tinyurl.com. Although, instead of redirecting to your linked website, Adjix places a small banner ad in your redirected link. Thus, monetizing Twitter tweets/links.
Will it catch on?
Truly difficult to say. On the one hand, everyone would love to be making money off tweets, even if it might be a rather insignificant amount. On the other, everyone hates ads and spam, and Adjix might come off as that to Twitter users.
The official beta launch was on Wednesday, so we will be on the lookout to see if Adjix is accepted by the Twitterverse.

Mesmerizing
This Schweppes ad is beautiful. It's a nice break from annoying, gimmicky ads because it is quality artwork.
