Video Post: iPads Taking Surveys to New Heights in Marketing

In public relations, it is important to reach influencers that consumers will listen to. One tactic we have found particularly effective is the use of surveys, but it goes beyond simply handing out sheets of paper with boxes to check.

Video Post: Axiom @ The Cannon River Winery

It's been a busy month and a half here at the office, so we all took the afternoon off to unwind. Even better, our office-wide unwinding was at the Cannon River Winery in Cannon Falls, MN. The weather was perfect as we got to tour the winery (and eventually tasted a few wines of course).

We put together a little video about our day, and this video also kicks off an ongoing series of "Axiom @" videos that will chronicle the different places and events we're lucky enough to attend.

Video Post: Employment benefits include insurance, 401K and...an iPad?

Companies are buying up ipads and other tablets for their employees, or plan to in the near future. However, a recent report shows that those companies don't exactly have a plan for how to use for them. So is this just a case of technology for the sake of technology? Steve discusses this and more in today's Daily Axioms video post.

Video Post: E-Books Besting Bestsellers

Not long after my post last week about Barnes & Noble's new e-reader, Amazon announced that e-books have outsold all other forms of print books on Amazon.com. It's an impressive achievement, and Steve explores what this means for both the e-reader market and the print book industry in this week's Daily Axioms video post.

Video Post: Is Beta Better for Google?

Video Post: Social Media Spending on the Rise

Social media worked its way into the marketing mix early on due to a multitude of free networks that still delivered big impression numbers and high viewership levels. However, as more and more time and creativity was needed to stand out from everyone else, greater financial backing was needed. Case in point: A recent study shows that a majority of marketers are increasing their social media budgets this year. In fact, the study found that 70% plan to increase their budget by more than 10%. Steve and Ashley look into this issue in today's Daily Axioms video post.

Video Post: Is Twitter Tinkering With New Brand Pages?

A recent report from BrandRepublic suggests Twitter might be toying with the notion of developing separate brand pages. Is this stepping out of bounds of what Twitter has found to work in the realm of social media marketing? Steve dives into this story in today's Daily Axioms video post.

Video Post: Mobile Gaming Not Playing Around

We've covered the prevalence of smartphones a few times already, but one area I haven't really been able to explore has been mobile gaming. But after a report by PopCap was released earlier this month, I thought it was time to dive into it. Sure mobile games seem to be popular, but just how popular are they? I look into this and other mobile gaming stats on today's Daily Axioms Video Blog.

Video Post: Closing the Book on Borders

Reactions to the announcement of Borders declaring bankruptcy last week ranged from a yawn to panic about the entire bookstore retailing industry. Many are wondering what possible effect this could have on Barnes & Noble, Border's biggest competitor. Given Barnes & Noble's shaky financial situation, there's no guaranteeing what will happen, but I look into that and more in this week's Daily Axioms Video Blog.

Video Post: Texting Still A Titan

With the prevalence of social media, you'd think that Twitter and Facebook would easily be the most-used feature on smartphones. However, based on a recent Deloitte report, that's not the case. In fact, the study found that far more smartphone users texted than trafficked social media sites. I look into this and more in today's Daily Axioms Video Post.

Video Post: Dawn of a New Day for Online Video?

In this week's Daily Axioms video post, I look into a recent ComScore report showing that Hulu is still getting twice as much online traffic as five major TV networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW) combined. More importantly, I discuss what this may mean for the future of online video and whether or not we'll continue to see more and more professionally-produced content with Hulu and Netflix.

Video Post: Phacebook Fones

We're kicking off our 2011 series of Daily Axioms Video Blogs with a new look and a new production team. Our former video intern Pete did a great job in 2010, but has moved on to greener pastures and we wish him the best. Now we're set with our new video intern Nick, and we're excited about the direction we're heading with these video blogs.

To start the year off (albeit a bit late), I look into last week's drama about HTC possibly debuting Facebook-branded phones in the near future. More importantly, I discuss whether or not it's even a good idea to begin with.
