YouTube Channeling Efforts to Push for Premium

The growth of online video has been well-documented here on Daily Axioms. And the top dog in the video yard, YouTube, seems to be putting more and more of its efforts behind premium curated content.

Case in point: Yesterday's report that suggests YouTube is working on creating channels to curate videos, most of which will feature professionally-produced content. The $100 million dollar project will aim to better position YouTube as more and more people use the Internet in their homes to view online content.

This move should definitely appeal to Boxee, Roku and Internet-connected TV owners who have easy access to YouTube but have relied on more polished services like Hulu and Netflix.

Couple this report with today's report about YouTube working with potential partners for more live streaming options, and it's obvious where the online video giant wants to go with its image and position.

We'll have to wait for these changes to actually take place before we can judge them, but it does seem like a step in the right direction, especially for companies like Axiom that pride themselves on their video production.

Video Post: Is Twitter Tinkering With New Brand Pages?

A recent report from BrandRepublic suggests Twitter might be toying with the notion of developing separate brand pages. Is this stepping out of bounds of what Twitter has found to work in the realm of social media marketing? Steve dives into this story in today's Daily Axioms video post.

AxBrack Update: It All Comes Down to This

Tonight is the big night in NCAA basketball as Connecticut takes on Butler in the Championship Game. And here at the office, this means we will finally have a winner in our 2011 Emilio Estevez #Losing Bracket Challenge. It's still a close race with 4 people in the running for the top three spots (and the wine of course). The winner of tonight's game will determine who wins everything, so here are the possible scenarios:

If Butler wins...
  • Andrea maintains her #1 spot and will win the wine and bragging rights that such an esteemed honor entails (and yes, that last part was meant to be sarcastic).
  • Kathleen will be the runner-up, with Linel coming in third. Both will get some wine, and since they picked Connecticut to win it all, are guaranteed to be within the top three spots.
  • I will be in last place and will get the Emilio Estevez #Losers Trophy and the shame that accompanies it.
If Connecticut wins...
  • Kathleen jumps ahead of Andrea for the #1 spot.
  • Linel bumps up to 2nd place, while Dave sneaks his way into 3rd place.
  • Andrea takes a free fall in the standings and lands in 4th place and wins nothing.
  • I will still be in last place and will get the Emilio Estevez #Losers Trophy and the shame that accompanies it.
Needless to say, we will all be keeping a close eye on the Championship Game tonight. For some, it will be the time to watch their chances at some bottles of wine either slip away or come to fruition. For me, it will be to see what could have been as that #Losers trophy sits by my desk.

Introducing Axiom's Newest Intern

Hello!

My name is Ashley and I am the new intern here at Axiom Communications! I would love to take this opportunity to introduce myself. (As I wrestle with my desk chair, try to find the office supplies, and not get lost on the way to the bathroom. Can you tell I'm the new girl?)

I am from the cool lakes and bustling parkways of Minneapolis, MN. I recently graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a major in Communication Studies and minor in English. At Gustavus I also did video production work for their Marketing Department, which was both incredibly fun and challenging.

After Gustavus I interned at the Ordway Center for Performing Arts in St. Paul, MN. I worked mostly on media relations, trade negotiations, and of course, attending shows.

I am so excited to be here at Axiom because I am happiest when I can be creative and collaborate with others who love to do the same. Axiom will allow me to gain unique experience in the world of public relations and work with a team of dedicated, innovative individuals. I can't wait to get started! Oh wait, so that's where they keep the stapler...

Video Post: Scanning the QR Code Landscape

QR code use has been on the rise as we've seen more and more of the codes popping up all over the place. However, the question still remains as to whether or not they're effective. But a recent report by MGH should be able to shed a little light on the subject, and I take a look at the numbers in today's Daily Axioms Video Post.
